Naturopathic
Medicine is a holistic approach to health care. It emphasizes health
promotion and disease prevention and treatment through the use of
therapeutic methods that encourage the self healing process.
Naturopathic medicine integrates traditional medical therapies with the
latest research in complementary and alternative medicine. To learn
more about naturopathic medicine please see www.naturopathic.org
Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) train
extensively in the conventional medical sciences as well as in clinical
nutrition, diet, botanical medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine,
hydrotherapy, and counseling.
NDs complete four year graduate degree
programs at accredited naturopathic medical schools, including at least
1200 hours of clinical training. In addition, NDs must pass two sets
of national board exams in the basic and clinical sciences. Currently,
NDs are eligible for licensure in fourteen states. Efforts to gain
licensure in NYS are currently underway. To learn more about the
licensure effort in NYS see www.nyanp.org

During your first visit expect to have
a comprehensive health assessment. We discuss your primary health
complaints and many more aspects of your health including your diet and
exercise habits, sleep, energy levels, and questions that evaluate
specific body systems. Then we decide how and where to intervene and
create a therapeutic plan designed to optimize your health. This visit
is usually 1.5-2 hours in length.
During subsequent visits we fine tune
the plan to continue on the path towards wellness. These visits are
generally 45 minutes to 1 hour long.
As a complimentary service, Dr. Batek
is happy to schedule a brief visit to spend a few minutes to see how her
services may benefit you.
